Juan Luis Vega, ‘Maera’ is one of the cantaores (flamenco singers) who is part of the cast of artists of the Tablao El Palacio Andaluz.
He confesses to being a lover of flamenco, by tradition and by vocation. Raised in Triana (Seville), he lost the ‘shame’ of singing in public in Italy and, since then, he has not stopped showing off his art on stages all over the world. He has worked with artists such as Rafael Riqueni, Carmen Linares, Israel Galván, Esperanza Fernández, Rafael de Carmen, Curro Fernández, Tía Juan la del Pipa, El Pipa, La Tana, Rafael Utrera and Pepe de Pura, among others.
He participated in the recording of the album Orobroy by Dorantes. He has been finalist of the National Prize of Flamenco Art of Cordoba with Amador Rojas and has won the first prize of the National Contest of Flamenco Art ‘Ciudad de Ubrique’, with Sofía Jiménez de la Rosa and with Emilio Ramírez ‘El Duende’, with whom today I share the stage in El Palacio Andaluz. At the Festival Flamenco del Cante de Lo Ferro, he also won the Melón de Oro (Golden Melon), along with other fellow performers.
Linked to El Palacio Andaluz since 1994, you can see ‘Maera’ live in the flamenco show that takes place every night in our tablao.
