Emilio Ramírez ‘El Duende’ is considered one of the best flamenco dancers in Spain. Despite his youth, this artist has managed to delight audiences all over the world and can boast of having ‘zapateado’ on the stage of the City Center in New York.
He has worked and shared the stage with leading flamenco figures such as Juana Anaya, Antonio Gades, Eva Yerbabuena and José Antonio Ruiz, among others. He started at Farruco’s school and has completed his training with great dance masters such as Manolo Marín, Antonio Canales and Maestro Granero.
Born in Arahal (Seville), his love of dance began when he was only five years old, when he started taking classes in his home town and later in the Sevillian town of Utrera. At the age of 12 she entered the Escuela de Baile de Alcalá de Guadaira, famous for being the birthplace of several renowned flamenco dancers. At the age of 14, Emilio Ramírez ‘El Duende’ began to perform his art on stages all over the world, including Paris, Rome, Bangkok and New York.
He has participated in Encuentros by Alejandro Granado, La Leyenda by José Antonio Ruiz, Bodas de Sangre by Antonio Gades or Cosas de Payasos by Javier Latorre. He has also been a member of the cast of artists from El Sombrero de Tres Picos y el Café de Chinitasworking with Esperanza Fernández and Chano Domínguez.
The artistic director and choreographer of our flamenco tablao has been part of great companies such as the Compañía Andaluza de Danza or the Centro Andaluz de Danza.
Emilio Ramírez ‘El Duende’ has won two national flamenco awards, 1st prize at the National Flamenco Art Competition in Ubrique in 2010 and was a finalist at the National Flamenco Art Competition in Cordoba in 2013.
Since 2007, this flamenco artist has been linked to El Palacio Andaluz, where since 2014 he has been the artistic director of the show that takes place every day in this Andalusian flamenco tablao.
