If you are planning to visit the Andalusian capital, you have to see a flamenco show in Seville! Originally, flamenco was an art form that was sung in private, usually in connection with celebrations with family and close friends. It was not professionalised, let alone danced in public places. However, magic and feeling began to take flamenco out of the home and into the tablaos where, little by little, it made its place as an art form in its own right.
The cafés cantantes witnessed the first flamenco shows, which made the audience tremble with every heel tap, with the clapping and strumming of the guitar, with the sound of the flamenco box-drum and the movements of the shawl.
Seville has been a favourite place for those who have been touched by the duende, welcoming among its streets great artists, from El Fillo; La Niña de los Peines; Manolo Caracol; Antonio Mairena; Angelita Vargas and Remedios Amaya, among many others. For this reason, to lose oneself in Seville is, in turn, to encounter flamenco, with its rhythm and strength.
And it is in this city where El Palacio Andaluz is located, our flamenco tablao, one of the most emblematic of the city. This tablao offers a unique show, full of grit and duende, with the option of having a tapas dinner of Andalusian cuisine or a glass of wine served at the table.
You cannot leave Seville without visiting a flamenco tablao and El Palacio Andaluz has one of the largest stages for a show of this kind, chosen by Televisión Española for the promotion and diffusion of flamenco. An hour and a half of pure magic in which guitar, clapping, dancing and singing come together in a journey through the purest flamenco styles: seguiriyas, bulerías, fandangos and sevillanas, among others.
Our flamenco room is fully equipped with the necessary technical means so that the show can be enjoyed from any point, whether seated at a table with a meal, or simply enjoying a glass of cava with a chocolate truffle.
In addition, we have several timetables, which will allow you to adapt your visit to any other plan you want to do in the capital of Seville. As a complement to your ticket, you can visit ‘The Museum of Flamenco and Andalusian Art’, an exhibition located inside El Palacio Andaluz where you will see photos of flamenco artists, as well as other elements such as costumes, castanets, shoes; and other signs of identity of our land, Andalusia, such as the art of wine and equestrian art.
El Palacio Andaluz is located on La Isla de la Cartuja, one of Seville’s emblematic spaces. Embraced by the Guadalquivir River, it houses museums, auditoriums, a technology centre, a university area, a theme park and, since 2019, our flamenco tablao, one of the oldest in the city.
Next to the historic centre, the Isla de la Cartuja is perfectly communicated and has excellent access. It hosted the Universal Exhibition in 1992 and has several surprises in store for visitors: Cartuja Monastery, Navigation Pavilion, Caixaforum, Isla Mágica, Olympic Stadium, Rocío Jurado Auditorium, Cartuja Center Cite and Central Theatre.
A reference point for leisure and culture in Seville. A special environment in which El Palacio Andaluz is located, a tablao that keeps alive the essence and spirit of the art of flamenco.
There are many ways to hear and see flamenco, but without a doubt, live is the most impressive way to do it. Choose the day, the time and the complement to your flamenco show in Seville and come and enjoy it!
